CRUDE OIL TANKS SLUDGE QUANTIFICATION

Petroleum Sludge results from sediment precipitation during the storage of crude oil in the storage tanks. Sludge presents a threat for floating roof type storage tanks. The distribution of sludge settlement is very important for the safety of the tank & also viable to estimate the quantities of sludge inside the tank before cleaning.

NCC has adopted the Willacy ultrasound technology to measure the thickness & distribution of sludge inside the petroleum storage tanks. The obtained information is very useful for tank cleaning tenders preparation. The maintenance team leader can estimate the right number of days required to clean the tank & recycle the removed sludge. The profile also reduces the risk of tank collapsing during the storage period & the sludge removal process.
